A 4-year BDS curriculum is followed in dental colleges since inception of Pakistan. Modern dentistry has gone far ahead and many contemporary core subjects are found missing from it due to shorter length of time. In many countries, our dental graduates are not accepted for employment for this reason. It is need of the hour to look into the matter with some serious outlook and modify it as per the requirement of time. A 5-year education plan will best suit to accommodate the contemporary missing subjects.
