ABSTRACT

Medical writing is comparatively a neglected field in our country and certainly reflects a lack of drive for conducting research and thereafter reporting the relevant findings in a recognized medical journal. The attitude of doctors in our country has been modified over the last decade and they tend to be more inclined towards research but still many lacunae are seen in publishing their work. The reasons why researchers are reluctant towards transcribing practices can be lack of time, insufficient writing skills, improper training in medical writing and inefficient system of medical journalism. Whereas the factors that compel the professionals to write articles are fascination about academic growth, interest in sharing their work with peers, effective contribution to update medical knowledge, and also most prevalent factor like personal gains in terms of faculty promotions etc. CONTINUED....
