REINFORCEMENT OF PRIMARY HEALTH CARE
FARAH A. MANSURI
ABSTRACT
Health care philosophies and its strategies are being evolved over the preceding years and an enormous effort has been laden down to achieve the maximum benefits for the populations in general.
In the same rigor, thirty years ago in 1978, an Alma Ata declaration of "Health for All" was jointly signed by all member states of United Nations and the concept of Primary Health Care (PHC) was launched. This was not merely a slogan but in fact since then many consolidated resolutions have been passed and consequently specific targets are achieved regarding global health. One can very well appreciate the control of infectious diseases through EPI, better maternal health through MCH program, better child health status with breast feeding initiative and growth monitoring etc. These all measures at PHC service cumulatively resulted in overall reduced morbidity and mortality to a certain extent. On the contrary, the curative services as well improved and responsible for increased life expectancy but mostly polarized in developed countries due a huge fiscal burden on state's economy.
