ABSTRACT
Recent results of MBBS part A and
B annual exam of 2012 conducted by University of Karachi are unsatisfactory.
In the overall assessment only 49.5%(79% for KMDC) and 54%(60% for
KMDC) of students were declared successful in part A and B examinations
respectively. Out of 101 total KMDC students who appeared in MBBS
part A, 2012 annual examination, 22 were failed. Of the 22 students
who failed, 10(45%) were on self-finance whereas 12(55%) were selected
on open merit. The breakup of 22 students who failed showed that
14 failed in practical, 2 in theory and 6 in both the components.
The subject wise breakup of the candidates who failed showed that
in Anatomy 4 were failed in theory and 14 in practical. In Physiology
6 failed in theory and 11 in viva. In Biochemistry 2 failed in theory,
8 in viva and one student failed in Islamic studies. This results
reflects a higher proportion of failures in viva/practical as compared
